What's new
The first release of the FastCV MCP server. An assistant you already use can now read your resumes, write a version for one specific job, draft the cover letter, and file both as a job application — without ever being able to overwrite the resume you built.
The headline
FastCV is now an MCP server at https://www.fastcv.co/v1/mcp. It is hosted, so there is nothing to install, clone or run: you add the address to your client, sign in with the FastCV account you already have, and the assistant can work with your documents from inside the conversation.
Six clients have a set-up card in the connect guide — Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and VS Code — and anything else that speaks the protocol can connect with the same address and the same discovery documents.
What you can do
Eight tools, listed in full on Tools and resources. What they add up to:
List what is in your account and read one as structured content, so the assistant is working from your real history rather than from what you can remember in the moment.
Paste an old resume, or just answer questions about your work, and a first draft is saved that you can open in the editor.
Give it a company and a role. One call saves the tailored resume, the cover letter and the job application together — or none of them, if any part fails.
Tailored resumes and cover letters can be edited again through the conversation, each with a version check so two edits cannot silently overwrite each other.
Ask for the PDF and you get a signed link that expires, rather than a file the assistant holds on to.
Your job applications are listed back with the documents attached to each one.
What it refuses to do
These are enforced in the server, not asked of the model. An assistant that tries anyway gets an error, not an exception.
The resumes you built are your factual record and no tool can modify one. Tailoring creates a new document every time, so there is no request an assistant can make that damages the original.
Every figure, employer, job title and date in a tailored version is checked against your real resume and the posting you pasted. Anything in neither is returned as a warning for you to confirm — the write still goes through, but your assistant has to tell you about it.
New applications are filed as Saved. No tool can mark one as applied or set the date; that stays a thing you do in FastCV.
Colours, fonts, templates and layout are not in any tool input. FastCV owns presentation, and a tailored resume inherits the design of the one it came from.
Every request is scoped to the account that signed in. A document belonging to another user reads back as not found — the same answer as a document that was never there.
How signing in changed
Connecting uses OAuth, so your client never sees your FastCV password and you are shown exactly what you are granting before you approve it. Every connection is listed under Connections in your dashboard, with what it may do and when it last did it, and disconnecting one there cuts it off immediately rather than at the end of the hour.
API keys still work for scripts and anything that cannot do a browser sign-in, and you can now issue and revoke them yourself on that same page. They are stored hashed, which means a key is shown to you once, when it is created, and cannot be recovered afterwards — only replaced.
What is not in it yet
Named so you are not waiting for something that is not coming in this release.
- There is still no AI writing button inside the editor. The assistant track is deliberately separate.
- No document import. An assistant can populate sections from text you paste, but FastCV does not read a PDF or a DOCX.
- No job search, no applying on your behalf, and no email. FastCV writes documents and files them; sending is yours.
- Cover letters are tied to a job application. There is no tool for a standalone letter yet.
If you never connect it
Nothing about the builder changes. The editor, the canvas, the export and your existing resumes work exactly as they did — the MCP server is something you switch on, and until you do, no assistant has any access to your account.
